HOW I WORK
Most people don't come to therapy because they're curious about themselves. They come because something in their life keeps unfolding in familiar ways.
The same argument. The same anxiety. The same relationship pattern. The same feeling that something isn't working, despite their best efforts.
My work focuses on helping people recognize the patterns that keep pulling them back to the same place.
I am active, engaged, straightforward, and at times challenging. I view therapy as a collaborative process.
The goal isn't endless analysis.
It's helping you see more clearly, respond more intentionally, and make choices that move your life in a different direction.
Eventually, the question becomes whether the familiar is still worth the cost.
MY PERSPECTIVE
Over the years, I've learned that people are rarely struggling because they lack intelligence, insight, or effort. More often, they're trying to solve today's problems with strategies that no longer fit their lives.
That perspective has been shaped by more than 35 years in the field, as well as marriage, raising a blended family, parenthood, my deep Latino roots, and my own experience with pancreatic cancer.
Experience has taught me that life is often more complicated—and people more resilient—than they first appear.
Some lessons can be learned from books. Others have to be lived.
